Dr. Ann Turnbull described an ”enviable life” as having a life that is characterized by dignity. It is the life that you would want for yourself and loved ones. It is the life that we should strive to help our friends with disabilities achieve. All our students deserve an enviable life. Using transition assessment, planning and services is the way to help individuals with disabilities achieve their enviable life. In this presentation we will learn about options for our students after school services end regarding education, work, living, and community participation.

After this presentation, participants will be able to: 1. Provide examples of post-secondary options and identify resources for educators and families related to each option. 2. Identify different forms of transition assessment and how those assessments are used to inform the student’s individualized transition plan. 3. Identify transition activities and determine when they should occur in the transition process.
